Could someone explain to me what .psd files actually are?
And how do i get the .psd files from my own creations?
Can i edit my files which are saved as one layer if i have the .psd file?

If someone can answer these for me i'd be grateful :D

.psd files are basically files that you have saved in Photoshop (PS) format. So the only way as far as I know to get your creations in .psd format is to make them in photoshop and save them in the PS format.

As for the one layer save files, if you save your files in PS as .psd and you have used more than 1 layer, then when you open it in PS it will open all the layers like you have made it. But I don't think it is possible to take a creation that was flattened and then open it up into layers again. But I'm not sure so maybe someone can confirm or correct :)

So people who use gimp can never provide a .psd file?

And I want to edit one of my creations but its just 1 layer now :(

You have GIMP?
You can actually read most .PSD files, excluding the adjustment layers.

Your equivalent is a .xcf file.

I have GIMP yes.

So from now on i should save everything i make 2 times, 1 as .png, and the other as .xcf?
And i made 1 picture and saved it as .png. Is there any way i can get the layers back again?

He has GIMP.
So, the GIMP equivalent to a .psd(Photoshop Filetype), is a .xcf.
